I’m Chris Olbekson, founder of C3M Digital

I am a former Professional Chef and lifelong Computer and Technology “Geek”. The name C3M means C cubed which is the first letter of my name and of my two sons, Cameron and Caden. The M is for my partner and significant other, Melissa. When we started the company, it was originally conceptualized as a B-2-B I.T. company that focused on providing software sales and support for point of sale systems for restaurants, bars and smaller retail establishments. Due to the economic climate and my passion for creating things I transitioned C3M Digital into specializing in web design and development while still providing support for existing pos clients and also providing premium in home personal service to consumers solving computer related problems and offering one on one specialized “tutoring” on how to get the most use and benefit from the technology they used on a day to day basis.

The company is also working on developing several pet projects aimed at providing specific solutions to a wider range of users. One project is aimed at providing an all in one web presence and marketing solution for real estate professionals and another will offer a complete Wordpress website including a real domain name, installation, hosting, support and pre installed themes.

My goal for 2010 is to better define the company and it’s services as well as focusing on making a difference in the local community by supporting and participating in groups like Support Local Grow Together and giving back by donating services to organizations that promote social justice and equality.

How does one go from being a Chef to a Web Designer?

I often get asked this question and hope this can shed some light on the curiosity.
I have always been a creator of things and one that learns new things from focusing on what interests me and building on past experiences. I always strived on being an artisan and making things from scratch. I did this in the culinary field and now do it in the design and I.T. field. While working as a professional Chef I always insisted on being involved with every aspect of the final product including the menu layout, print ads and websites that represented my food. I often did a majority of the Graphic Design and Web Site work for many of the restaurants I worked for. The same creative passion and drive for excellence that fueled my culinary career is what makes me a successful graphic design professional. Each new project is treated with the same artistic detail that is put into creating a new menu or perfecting an existing dish. I still use my expertise in the culinary and hospitality industry by consulting with and providing my new services to restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

My philosophy

I am very interested and passionate in the work I am doing on your project. I run C3M Digital because I love that my job demands creativity. I also like a new challenge every day, and the freedom to choose to work with clients I believe in and who also share my similar views on equality and compassion for man kind.
